Former Royal Challengers Bangalore star player AB de Villiers confirmed that he will definitely join RCB in the IPL 2023 edition.
De Villiers retired from all forms of cricket tournaments last year and this is the first time since his IPL journey that he is not playing an IPL season. Meanwhile, in the match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on Sunday 21 May, Delhi Capitals got out of the race of playoffs after a five-wicket loss by Mumbai Indians and Bangalore became the fourth team after Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Lucknow to qualify for the playoffs.

This is the third time in the last three years that RCB has reached the playoffs but the team is yet to win a single IPL title since the inception of the league. Coming back to AB de Villiers, who has shown his interest to be back in IPL 2023 to join RCB. He said that he is looking forward to return to the IPL next year.

The 38-year-old has won a lot of matches for RCB along with Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle since joining the team in 2011. He has been one of the key players of Bangalore and is one of the most admired foreign players in India. Virat Kohli had confirmed earlier this month that AB de Villiers would join the team in the future and now de Villiers also confirmed the same in a recent conversation with VUSport.
“I am glad to hear Virat confirmed it. To be honest, we haven’t decided on anything yet. I will definitely be around IPL next year. I am not sure in what capacity but I am missing getting back there.”
“I have heard a little bird tweeting, saying that there might be some games in Bangalore. So I would love to return to my second hometown (Bangalore) and watch the full capacity stadium there at the Chinnaswamy again. I would love to return, I am looking forward to it,” de Villiers added.
Finished His Career On A High Note
AB de Villiers finished his career on a high note, playing for RCB for 11 years he scored 4491 runs in 156 matches with a strike rate of 156.77 and an average of 41.20 matches. And he amassed a total of 5162 runs in 184 games, averaging 39.70 and at a 151.68 strike rate. De Villiers also scored 3 centuries in his IPL career with a best of unbeaten 133 and 40 half-centuries.
